New Publication In Honour of Helmut K. Anheier

02.06.2022 I Rupert Graf Strachwitz and Eckhard Priller as authors of new Springer publication

Springer has released a collection of essays in honour of civil society studies pioneer Helmut K. Anheier.

In three volumes, the essays cover civil society theories, global challenges and trends, as well as country or region-specific case studies. Contributors, including our Director, Rupert Graf Strachwitz, and Institut member Eckhard Priller, have used Anheier’s theorisation of the origins of civil society and applied them to recent examples. The collection celebrates Anheier’s 65th birthday and retirement from the University of Heidelberg, whilst demonstrating the relevance of his life’s work in the context of the 21st century.

The German-American Sociology professor has a keen interest in non-profit organisations, including philanthropy, social innovations and governance research. He has published over 450 academics works and is also a former President of the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.

Springer’s collection is edited by academics based in Germany, Norway and the United States.
