    Adressing Europe´s Issues

Observatorium 32 | 01.06.2019 | Europe, like other regions, individual countries, and the world as a whole, is dealing with a plethora of “wicked problems.”. These problems and diverse societies need systemic solutions, solutions that are supported collaboratively by government, the private sector and civil society (philanthropies and NGOs).

    Philanthropy.Insight

Observatorium 31 | 01.05.2019 | Going beyond an impact-driven assessment, a stronger, better defined and more accountable role of philanthropy within civil society may be developed. Funders and foundations as well as experts are invited to gather, align and apply a common framework which enables philanthropy to live up to its full potential. To this end, Philanthropy.Insight offers a pentagon of monitoring criteria as a starting proposition.

A Matter of Precaution – Watching the Shrinking Civic Space in Western Europe

Observatorium 29 | 15.04.2019 | The global phenomenon of “closing” or “shrinking” space for civil society has been identified and increasingly analyzed since at least the beginning of the 2000s. In Europe, the focus has been on what has been happening in countries of Central and Eastern Europe or of the Balkans; by contrast, relatively little attention has been paid to developments in the continent’s older, established democracies.
