02.06.2022 I Philea officially approved

The members of EFC and Dafne have officially approved their merger and the formation of the new Philanthropy Europe Association (Philea).

The European Foundation Centre (EFC) and the Donors and Foundations Networks in Europe (DAFNE) established the Philanthropy Europe Association (Philea) in December 2021, to advocate for Philanthropy in Europe.

On 20th May 2022, Philea’s members formally voted in favour of the merger and approved a number of new statutes, to facilitate the running of the new organisation.

Moving forward, Philea intends to advocate for greater trust, innovation and diversity within Europe’s philanthropic sector, to harness its broad and mutlidimensional potential.

From 30 May – 1 June 2022 the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation hosted the Philea Forum 2022 in Barcelona. Bringing together philanthropic actors from across the continent, themes of discussion inluded the war in Ukraine, the COVID-19 pandemic and the European Year of Youth, and how philanthropy can engage with such issues.

Our guest researcher Luisa Bonin also joined – selected as one of 10 so called Next Gen members, young philanthropy professionals to guide and provide support and connections during the event and our lives in the philanthropic field.
