Mehrere brasilianische Organisationen veröffentlichten Stellungnahmen, in denen sie die Angriffe der Bolsonaro-UnterstützerInnen auf den Nationalkongresses, den Planalto-Palast und den Obersten Gerichtshof (STF) stark kritisieren. Auch die brasilianische Anwaltskammer (OAB) hält solche Aktionen für inakzeptabel: “Es ist an der Zeit, unsere Aktionen gegen den demokratischen Rechtsstaat ein für alle Mal zu beenden. Weitere Kritik kamen aus dem National Governors Forum und dem brasilianischen Bankenverband (Febraban).
Ein weiteres Thema ist die Wichtigkeit der Pressefreiheit. Der Nationale Journalistenverband (Fenaj) und die Gewerkschaft der Berufsjournalisten des Bundesdistrikts (SJPDF) äußerten ihre “tiefe Ablehnung” der Gewalttaten gegen Presseschaffende, die über die Demonstrationen berichteten. Mindestens acht Journalisten wurden von Bolsonaro-AnhängerInnen gewaltsam angegriffen und ausgeraubt.
Der brasilianische Presseverband (ABI) sprach von “Terrorakten und Vandalismus” und übte Kritik an der Polizei, die die Demokratie nicht ausreichend verteidigt habe. Andere Organisationen, wie die Nationale Vereinigung der Delegierten der Bundespolizei (ADPF), die Nationale Vereinigung der Mitglieder der Staatsanwaltschaft (Conamp) und die Vereinigung brasilianischer Richter (AMB), verteidigten die Demokratie, in dem sie die Aktionen der Bolsonaro-AnhängerInnen verurteilten und die sofortige Identifizierung und Bestrafung der TäterInnen unterstützen.
Auch die GIFE (Gruppe der Institute, Stiftungen und Unternehmen) drückte ihre Wut über die Aktionen der Bolsonaro-UnterstützerInnen aus. Zur GIFE gehören mehr als 160 Institute, Fonds, Stiftungen und Unternehmen, die den demokratische Rechtsstaat als eine der Grundlagen für das Handeln im öffentlichen Raum verteidigen. In ihrer Stellungnahme legt GIFE viel Wert auf die Wichtigkeit der Stärkung und Verteidigung der Demokratie und ruft ebenfalls zur Verurteilung der TäterInnen auf. Die Stellungnahme wurde u.a. von Inês Mindlin Lafer, Vorsitzende des GIFE-Rates und Cassio France, Generalsekretär der GIFE untergeschrieben.

Multiple Brazilian organisations have published statements strongly condemning the attacks on the country’s Congress, Presidential Palace and Supreme Court, carried out by Bolsonaro supporters. The Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) considers such actions to be unacceptable: “It is time to take a stand against threats to the democratic rule of law. Only then will it be possible to seek peace. For this to happen, it is necessary to identify and punish the instigators of the imposter riots. (Maecenata translation from Portuguese) Further criticism came from the National Governor’s Forum and the Brazilian Banking Federation (Febraban).
Another issue is that of press freedom. The National Federation of Journalists (Fenaj) and the Union of Professional Journalists of the Federal District (SJPDF) expressed their “strong rejection” of the acts of violence against press workers covering the demonstrations. Bolsonaro supporters violently attacked and robbed at least eight journalists.
The Brazilian Press Association (ABI) spoke of “acts of terrorism and vandalism” and criticised the police for not defending democracy sufficiently. Other organisations, such as the National Association of Members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (Conamp) and the Association of Brazilian Judges (AMB), defended democracy by condemning the actions of Bolsonaro supporters and calling for the immediate identification and punishment of the perpetrators.
GIFE (Group of Institutes, Foundations and Companies) also expressed its anger regarding the actions of Bolsonaro’s supporters. GIFE encompasses over 60 institutes, funds, foundations and companies that defend the democratic rule of law as one of the bases of action in the public sphere. In its statement, GIFE emphasises the importance of strengthening and defending democracy and calls for the punishment of the perpetrators. The statement was signed by, among others, Inês Mindlin Lafer, Chair of the GIFE Council and Cassio France, GIFE’s Secretary General.
