Finn Büttner has been working as a research associate at the Maecenata Institute since September 2023. In this role, he oversees various research projects on civil society and philanthropy in Germany. He also focuses on civil society dynamics in the WANA region (West Asia and North Africa) in general and the Arab Gulf region in particular.
Finn earned his B.A. in Islamic Studies and Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin. He completed his master’s degree at Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen, where he studied International Relations and Public Administration.
Previously, Finn worked as a student assistant in the Transnational Giving Program at the Maecenata Foundation. Before joining the Maecenata Foundation, he worked as a freelancer at the German Commission for UNESCO in the field of education. In both Jordan and Oman, Finn co-founded and helped lead various civil society initiatives with and for young people.
